Raw Milk Company

OUR FAMILY BUSINESS

In the Netherlands we are the first and only (family) company that produces raw milk dairy on a large scale. We started in Zwolle in 1992 on André's parental farm, and switched to organic farming in 1995. The farm was named 't Ecoloar. There we were the first to make organic raw milk kefir, raw milk yogurt and raw milk curds, which we sold in our own farm shop.

Since 2016 we have been located in De Lutte, a village in Northeast Twente with a beautiful hinterland. Where, in addition to our high-tech, sustainable and well-organized production area, we also have our farm shop Milk & Honey. There we not only sell our own products, but also organic fresh products such as fruit and vegetables, meat, raw milk cheese and dry goods.

Of course we cannot do without our fantastic employees! Brigit, Ingrid, Jacqueline, Leslie and Marijke work with heart and soul on making and selling your RauwPower dairy products.

Who are we?

André Mulder

As the second youngest son of a farmer, Tonny and I took over my father's farm in Wijthmen, Salland (Overijssel). Our three children (two sons and a daughter) were still young at the time. In 1995 we decided to switch to organic.

It became clear to me that it was no longer responsible as a conventional farmer to think in terms of economies of scale, but that as a farmer I had to go for quality instead of quantity. With respect for animals, nature and the environment in the here and now, and for the future.

In 2011, we introduced the first raw milk products, including kefir. Now our youngest son is co-owner of the Raw Milk Company and we employ four people.

I am proud that we can be a responsible employer, have a growing number of satisfied customers and are well on the way to energy neutral production.”

I worked as a nurse for 30 years. In various departments such as general internal, gastroentrology and oncology. There I was able to experience even more how important it is to listen with attention, and how important the right nutrition is for your health.

People who come to our store have often heard about the beneficial effects of our dairy from others. It is great that I can advise clients well because of all the experiences of the past ten years. It gives me great satisfaction when I hear the positive reactions from customers. Consciously dealing with food and happy satisfied customers; these are important drivers in our company.

Apparently I'm still a caregiver at heart!

co-owner

As the youngest of three children, I was the only one who was really interested in food and milk production in particular.

However, I didn't want to become a farmer, so I went to study at Wageningen University & Research (WUR): Food technology. I graduated in 2018.

Since then I have become co-owner of the Raw Milk Company and responsible for product development. As a scientifically trained person, it is important to me to know exactly what is happening in our production process and how we can do it even better. Because of course we not only want to meet the requirements of the NVWA (Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority), but it is also important to us that our (new) products meet the conditions that we set. That means: tasty, fair and healthy.

The farm has a few small-scale agricultural plots. The meadows are no larger than 1.5 hectares and are surrounded on three sides by landscape elements, such as forest, a ditch or wooded banks near the quiet arm of the Dinkel.

Organic dairy farm Het Hengelman switched in 1999 from a conventional dairy farm to an organic dairy farm. No more antibiotics are used. If a cow is not feeling well, homeopathic remedies are used.
