Background information

Our company and our products

Our company: Raw Milk Company is located in the middle of the hinterland of the village of De Lutte (municipality of Losser) in Twente. There we process the organic milk from our suppliers of Erve Auskamp and Boerderij Het Hengelman into our now famous RauwPower dairy products. From our company, the RauwPower products are distributed to almost all organic stores throughout the Netherlands.

In our farm shop Milk & Honey, we also sell organic and biological/dynamic fresh products and dry goods in addition to our RauwPower dairy.

Our packaging

Our PET bottles are free from BPA and phthalates. We consciously opted for this packaging and not for glass. For several reasons:

Glass bottles weigh almost half a kilo more than plastic bottles. This makes each crate almost five kilos heavier. Where returned beer bottles are relatively easy to clean, dairy products leave residues that are rich in fat and protein. They will 'cake' in the bottle and cleaning requires a lot of labour, a lot of hot water and chemicals. This immediately nullifies the environmental benefit. Glass bottles are fragile. A small shard can cause major problems. Used bottles can be so dirty that they cannot be cleaned, causing harmful bacteria to enter our production process. This is at the expense of hygiene and thus food safety. Kefir contains yeasts. These can also produce carbon dioxide when cooled, which can cause the bottles to bulge. A glass bottle could burst due to this overpressure.

Bioplastic is not yet an option because of the patents on it.

These keep the price artificially high. As soon as these patents expire, we hope that an affordable replacement for PET and PP will become available. Until then, we advise you to throw our bottles in the special plastic waste containers, so that they can be recycled.

If your municipality no longer collects plastic separately, it will also be removed during waste processing. Plastic does not have to end up in the environment. Help nature and the environment and only dispose of our BPA and phthalate-free packaging in the waste containers that are intended for this purpose.
